Focus of Current Research: The ubiquitous environmental contaminate 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is known to cause heart malformations in multiple vertebrate species. I study the effects of TCDD in zebrafish (Danio rerio); specifically, how TCDD impairs embryonic development of the zebrafish proepicardium and regeneration of adult zebrafish heart tissue.
