Erik Burns, EdD, MA, MBA, BA

Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Burns is focused on conducting applied research focused on the application of knowledge within continuing education and professional development audiences specific to scientific and technical areas.

Dr. Burns is an assistant professor and division chair of the Division pf Pharmacy Professional Development at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. He received his BA in marketing communications from Winona State University (Winona, MN), and MA and MBA degrees from the College of St. Scholastica (Duluth, MN), each with a focus on higher education administration. His EdD degree was completed at St. Mary’s University (Winona, MN) and with a concentration in training and development of professionals utilizing distance education. He is a recognized entrepreneurial pracademic with a desire to grow programs in both industry and academia. Dr. Burns has presented and published over 20 articles within the professional development and business space. His background in business and applied research within professional development and online learning allows him to focus on brining both value and simplicity to learners to create practical, applied solutions backed by data through quality research and assessment.
