Kate Rotzenberg

Teaching Faculty II and PearlRx Program Administrator

I am the Program Administrator for PearlRx, a pharmacist practice-based research network housed within the Sonderegger Research Center (https://pharmacy.wisc.edu/pearlrx/).

I graduated from UW-Madison School of Pharmacy in 2007 and completed a PGY1 residency at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital-Madison the following year. I provided decentralized clinical services in adult med/surg, neonatology/pediatrics, nutrition support, emergency department, and adult ICU as a staff pharmacist at the same hospital until 2011. At that time, I added drug information responsibilities for the pharmacy department. In 2014, I stepped into a clinical pharmacy manager role with oversight for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, medication safety, PGY1 residency program, pharmacy student experiences, and outpatient drug information services. In 2016, this role was expanded to have more regional scope, and I completed my MBA through Fontbonne University. In 2017, I joined the Social & Administrative Sciences division at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy.

I have three kiddos, a husband who teaches AP chemistry, and a 16 year old beagle.  Outside of pharmacy, I like to run, read, cook and bake, and make things out of yarn.

I support several courses within the Social & Administrative Sciences division (411, 414, 514, 608, 611) addressing the following topics:

  • Ethics and professional decision-making
  • Pharmacist roles in public health
  • Patient perceptions of pharmacists
  • Financial considerations for successful pharmacy practice
  • Medication safety
  • Pharmacy law

I strive to make content relevant, engaging, and accessible to students.
